Maarten Meire is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Health Sciences at Ghent University, where he heads the Section of Endodontology and serves as Programme Director of the three-year postgraduate programme in Endodontology.

He obtained his dental degree from Ghent University in 2002 and completed the university’s three-year Master in Endodontology in 2005. He subsequently joined the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontology as a part-time faculty member and earned his PhD in 2011. Following his postdoctoral training, he was appointed Assistant Professor in 2020.

His academic activities encompass undergraduate and postgraduate education in endodontology, research, and the supervision of master’s theses and PhD projects. His research focuses on root canal cleaning and disinfection, including laser-assisted endodontics.

He is a former member of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) Clinical Practice Committee and currently serves on the ESE Research Committee. He has authored several national and international scientific publications and lectures. In addition to his academic appointment, he works in a referral-based practice limited to endodontics in Antwerp.
